We had a long weekend on the Isle of Wight last weekend, both needed some kind of a break, it was warm and sunny yay! how lucky was that? Having never been before it was easy to get to and a very nice place, a little tired looking in parts, smaller than expected, but some of the villages and houses were stunning, we took Joe on the ferry and he coped so well with all the travelling. If you are going to the Isle here's what I reccomend, lunch at The Taverners in Godhsill, a gorgeous little old world village full of nice shops to browse and plenty of places to eat or just to have a coffee
I had salt beef and beetroot sandwich with a bucket of their 'famous' chips, hubby had prawn sandwiches with chips, you will never have tasted chips so good, it was sheer heaven.....in Shanklin the old part of the small town is pretty with thatched pubs on every corner lit up with coloured lights and leading down to Shanklin Chine (sadly closed during our trip) it was buzzing and friendly and everywhere seemed to be thriving, I didn't see one closed pub while there and there are so many places to eat on the Isle, whereas here there is a pub closing every 5 mins ![]()
we want to live there now on a house boat

I loved our break and will be visiting again soon

We also visited Taverners this weekend! The food is wonderful. Glad you enjoyed your trip - I think the island is the nicest place in the world, but then I'm biased.
